Problems Installing Moria?

We have found that certain DVD drives have difficulty reading Dual Layer DVDs such as the ones included in Mines of Moria™. When the DVD laser refocuses in order to read the second layer, some data transmission errors can occur.

This leads to errors copying data files during installation, meaning the installation does not successfully complete.

If you are encountering this error during your installation of Mines of Moria, please try the following options:

1. The error is DVD drive specific so if you have a second DVD drive, try using this to install the game.

2. If you do not have a second drive, copy the contents of each DVD into a temporary folder on your hard drive, and install the game from there. Please be aware that this fix does require at least 15GB free hard disk space, (you can remove this temporary folder once the installation has been completed).

To do this, please follow these simple instructions:

  1. Create a new folder on your hard drive. The location does not matter, but we suggest c:\lotrotemp\ as this is a memorable name and easy to find
  2. Insert the Mines of Moria DVD disk into your DVD drive and explore the contents, (to do this, right click the game disk icon in “My Computer” and click Explore). Then copy each and every file and folder to the temporary folder you have created on your hard drive, (you can do this using copy and paste).
  3. Now browse to the temporary folder you have created and double click on the lotrosetup.exe file
  4. The game will now install. Once it is successful, you can delete the temporary folder that you have created (c:\lotrotemp\).

If you continue to have problems and none of the above is effective you can download the full game client and patches from the following site(s):
